Cheryl Eichner, MS PTFeldenkrais Method
|
I am a Feldenkrais Practitioner and a Physical Therapist with a Masters in Science. I have an extensive educational background that combines scientific research with a strong spiritual practice. Using my analytical training and a strong development in alternative approaches, I bridge the gap between traditional and alternative care to assist you in reaching your greatest potential.
I attribute much of my effectiveness in my work to precision and accuracy of assessment and treatment. My skills were fine tuned by a lengthy and dedicated study with some of the pioneers on the leading edge of the osteopathic field. You may have heard of these methods: they include, Craniosacral Therapy, Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy, Strain and Counterstrain, Functional Technique and Visceral Manipulation. This work is extremely helpful with people who have long standing problems, undefined disorders and/or recent trauma. I have found these skills have been instrumental in progressing an individual more rapidly to an active and healthy life style.
My love of movement and wanting to share this joy with others led me to the Feldenkrais Method. This Method gave me a more expanded view that further encouraged my creativity and problem solving with individuals. I have found the Feldenkrais Method extremely beneficial for people with neurological disorders (i.e. stroke, head injury, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, Global Developmental Delay, Downes Syndrome, Autism, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, peripheral neuropathy and rare and unusual neurological disorders), repetitive stress injuries, and professional athletes, dancers and musicians recovering from injury, prevention or just wanting to improve their performance.
My teaching experience encompasses instructing and educating other professionals, as well as, the general public. I have taught classes to other professionals in refining their manual skills, problem solving and movement. As I have mentioned, movement is one of my passions. As a result, I have developed and instructed many movement classes for specialized populations and the general public. Some of these classes are: 1) A back class which involved exploring Pilates Method, Tai Chi, Feldenkrais Method and low back stabilization concepts, 2) Creative movement and dance therapy classes for physically and cognitively challenged children in a supportive setting. This included choreographing a performance with a therapeutic influence for the children to perform once a year. At present I’m teaching classes based on the Feldenkrais Method for specialty populations and for those people who just want to learn, be more aware of themselves, enjoy and feel more comfortable in their body and reach their greater potential.
The people I see range from severely physically challenged to professional athletes, dancers and musicians. I work with children and adults of all ages and cognitive levels. I consider it an honor working with everyone. I look forward to seeing your gifts and working with your potential.
