Process Acupressure

Process Acupressure is a body/mind/soul modality that works with the whole person to further health, well-being and soul-centered development. It is based on the idea that the body, mind and soul are fundamentally linked--and that the state of one has an effect on the state of the others.

This perspective, that all parts of a human being, and nature itself, are connected and dependent on each other, can be traced back thousands of years. The Chinese mapped out energy pathways (meridians) throughout the body around 3,000 years ago. They have been using them as a health reference ever since. Similarly, the ancient Indians defined the energy centers (chakras) of the body. Their healthcare approaches worked to harmonize the energy systems of the body. This was done by stimulating points located along the meridians or in the chakras. Process Acupressure uses this ancient knowledge, combined with contemporary psycho-spiritual understanding, to promote health and self-responsibility for wellness.

How is Process Acupressure Performed?

Typically, a PA session takes from 1 to 1 1/2 hours. You'll lie fully clothed on a massage table while the practitioner applies gentle pressure to your acupoints. Normally the session has several phases:

  • As a state of relaxation ensues, you may become aware of issues within your body and/or consciousness.

  • As the session progresses, you may go into a deeper state of awareness, beneath surface tension, to access clarity or guidance about the issues at hand.

  • Finally, integration and completion of the process occur as the session is closed by chakra balancing and grounding.

Process Acupressure can address many common physical symptoms, including back problems, headaches, respiratory, digestive and systemic problems as well as colds, flu, allergies and healing from injuries. Through many years of research, over 100 specific acupressure protocols were developed to provide therapy for all parts of the body and many specific conditions. PA is especially helpful with stress-related conditions, including post-traumatic stress. It is not appropriate for severe medical problems or psychosis and does not supplant medical care.
